Yesterday I went to Barnes & Noble and perused through the magazine rack. Instead of reaching for the usual latest fashion magazines my arms suddenly carried pregnancy, parenting, and family magazines. I sat for a good hour and a half enjoying these new found interest. There was one particular article in the Pregnancy & Newborn Magazine titled, This Ain't Your Mama's Pregnancy (article below). It was such a funny read that I found myself smiling and nodding my head of how true some of the points are and how familiar they are to me.
This Ain't Your Mama's Pregnancy

Just a few of the ways baby-baking in the
21st century differs from how it was back in the day.
21st century differs from how it was back in the day.
YOUR MAMA waited to share the news of her bun in the oven until she was through the first trimester.
YOU upload a picture of your positive pregnancy test to Facebook within minutes of the second line appearing.
YOUR MAMA devoured and dog-earned the pages of her prenatal handbook, reading it nightly before bed.
YOU get daily notifications that report on baby's development and keep you on track with prenatal to-dos via an app on your smartphone.
YOUR MAMA wore muumuus throughout her bump-bearing days.
YOU stock up on your favorite designer denim (in maternity styles, of course).
YOUR MAMA was isolated from the world during her final weeks of pregnancy when she was too tired and swollen to socialize outside the house.
YOU connect and commiserate with ladies in the same boat (still without leaving the couch) through mom-to-be discussion boards and chats.
YOUR MAMA went to the store and picked out a stroller. (Sears carried only a couple options)
YOU dedicate weeks to reading reviews, comparing prices, and checking out celebrity faves before settling on which model to add to your online registry.
YOUR MAMA called her doctor to ask questions or discuss unusual symptoms.
YOU googled your symptoms, self-diagnose, freak out about having a rare, life-threatening disease - and then call your doctor.
YOUR MAMA looked forward to delivery day in anticipation of finally knowing whether you would be a boy or a girl.
YOU learn at your 20-week ultrasound (or sometimes earlier) you're having a little man and, thanks to the 4D ultrasound later on, also find out he has mommy's nose and daddy's ears.
YOUR MAMA left for the hospital and promised friends and relatives that your father would call with your name and stats after you were born.
YOU live-tweet baby's birth to keep everyone (and their mother) up to date with each centimeter your cervix dilates, then send out a mass text to any non-tweeting contacts once baby arrives.
YOUR MAMA kept a baby book and filled it with handwritten notes, news-paper clippings, and snapshots as an intimate reminder of your first year.
YOU start a blog and post photos and reflections about your adventures in motherhood regularly so friends, family and fellow mommy bloggers near and far can
follow along on your journey.
follow along on your journey.

This is funny!
